What Hath MAGA Wrought?

Four years ago Donald J Trump became the POTUS of the USA. He had run on a campaign of, among other things, cleaning the swamp, building a ‘big, beautiful’ wall along the country’s southern border (which Mexico would pay for), and, through his deal-making prowess, making the USA great again (his thesis: it had somehow been great in the past but fallen on hard times).

Now, near the end of his term, we know the truth, and it doesn’t set us free. Instead, it hurts.

Trump did not clean the swamp. If anything, there are more alligators than before. One could hardly cross the moat without stepping on them.

Though he survived impeachment, being impeached is not a small thing. It leaves a stain.

Corruption has not been eliminated. If anything, it has been aided and abetted. Look to the multiple pardons by the POTUS of those of dubious moral fiber and criminal indictment if proof is required.

A partial wall was built between the USA and Mexico, but Mexico paid nothing. $15B was appropriated from elsewhere and used by Trump to build the wall, which is of questionable efficacy. The wall is not completed.

Families have been separated; children placed in cages. Some may never see their parents again, such is the level of haphazard record keeping and basic attitude of ICE.
