Water into Wine

5 min readSep 6, 2025

My only grandchild, my namesake grandson, turned 15 a week ago.

His mother, my daughter, invited me to his birthday party.

He intended to have some friends over to his parents’ house for a BBQ luncheon.

I accepted without hesitation.

What with school and sports, my grandson has little open time in his busy schedule.

Part of me wonders if it may always be this way.

Maybe it is only going to get worse.

My desire to bond with him was one of the reasons I moved to this geographic area 13 years ago.

Thanks to the kindness of his parents, that wish has come to fruition.

He and I have a good relationship, which gladdens me no end.

That reason alone was sufficient reason for me to relocate when I did.

Jesus was supportive of celebratory gatherings.

His very first miracle (other than the Incarnation itself, which I won’t count) was the transformation of water into superb wine at a wedding feast in Cana.

He could have wrought another miracle in much the same way as He did many others — restored sight to the blind, healed the lame, even brought a person back from death.
