The Power Of Focus

“If you doubt the power of focus, try riding two bicycles simultaneously.”

One of my sisters lives in the Pacific Northwest.

A number of months ago (beginning around October 2019), her husband developed what they thought was scabies, a mite infestation, on various parts of his body.

Scabies is a contagious intensely itchy skin condition caused by tiny burrowing mites, Sarcoptes scabiei, which set up shop in the outer layers of the skin and lay eggs. It is not something one would wish upon an enemy.

Better coals upon his head than scabies upon his back.

It is one condition which may rival the boils of Job, for discomfort. Though it is not recorded as such, the condition may have existed in antiquity.

Her husband is a retired RN. The mites of scabies gave him no professional courtesy; he did not escape their wrath.

This is the 1st time he had had this skin affliction. But it does not usually last this long.

Here is a photo of what my brother-in-law’s back looked like:

A few months later, my sister contracted a similar skin eruption, albeit less severe. She attributes this to contact with the massage cushion her husband had been using.
