I had my teeth cleaned today. It’s been a while since my last cleaning. I don’t recall the specific date, but it’s been more than 6 months. So I was due.
I’ve had a complicated dental history, the details of which I won’t bore you with, dear reader. Accidents, extractions, dentures, bridges, etc. with a variety of different dentists and a dental school.
Suffice it to say I’m at the point where I don’t anticipate having any more major dental work done.
My daughter relinquished her dental practice about a decade ago just before my grandson was born. Even though it was inconvenient, her office being in a different county of the state, I used to go to her for dental care.
It gave me a chance to see her, to visit, even if briefly, to see for myself she was all right, and still among the land of the living.
I recall something someone once said where I used to work: “Be true to your teeth, or they’ll be false to you.” And “leave your teeth alone and they’ll go away.”
So I’m determined to take care of what teeth I have, hoping they’ll last the rest of my natural days.
The dental hygienist, someone new, was affable and proficient.
