One of the things Donald Trump, soon to be ex-POTUS, campaigned for in 2016 was a ‘big, beautiful’ wall along the southern border of the USA to keep out immigrants, whom he termed ‘rapists and criminals.’ In this he labeled the majority with the odious opprobrium of the minority. Trump is not known for caring about accuracy or the truth, however. Had he, the Presidential election might have turned out differently.
He assured Americans Mexico would pay for the wall (this despite protestations from the President of Mexico to the contrary, that no such thing would occur on his watch).
In fact, the approximate $15B cost of the wall has been siphoned by the POTUS from other projects. That part of his pledge was conveniently ignored.
Part of Joe Biden’s extensive political platform included his stance on immigration. He assured the American public that ‘not one foot’ of new wall would be built under his administration. And, contrary to what some still believe, he won the Presidential election fairly. His own attorney general, William Barr, admitted as much, saying there was no evidence of fraud sufficient to turn the Presidential election. Perhaps not coincidentally, Barr is resigning prior to the transfer of Executive power.
Such is the consistent fate of erstwhile supporters of the POTUS. Once their loyalty is called into question, they face…
