I encountered a thoughtful article about the USA and foreign affairs recently. Here is a link:
The article makes several points. Here is one I wish to highlight.
The author says:
“As I argued a few weeks back, the Biden team is a familiar array of mainstream liberal internationalists, most or all of whom are still strongly committed to familiar notions of American exceptionalism.”
I do not know Antony Blinken, Biden’s choice to be Secretary of State. I suspect he will be an improvement on his predecessor, whose emphasis on ‘swagger’ likely endeared him to his boss but reminded me of the “Ugly American,” the 1958 political novel by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer.
I assume Blinken will be confirmed.
