Some Thoughts on Ukraine

I think the war (Russian invasion of Ukraine, which commenced on February 24) has gone on long enough.

Too long, truth be told.

Vladimir Putin, autocratic leader of Russia, disagrees.

He recently opined negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are at a ‘dead end.’

Inferring the war is far from over.

He is determined to get a ‘win.’

However he defines it.

We must not let him.

Not for a moment think other countries are not watching.
Including the land of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.”

Despite the war costing Russian an estimated $20B/day, he is continuing to wage it.

The worldwide impact, both economic and other, is only additive to that figure.

A number of thoughtful people in the West agree with me.

Disclaimer: I am no expert.

I don’t pretend to be.

I am a concerned citizen.

I am fortunate enough to live in a country that allows me to have an opinion.

And to write that opinion.

Knowing what Russian citizens think is fruitless.

Even if I were in a position to interview them.

Their thinking, whatever it may be, is almost certain to be tinged by the rose-colored filter through which they…
