In 2013 NETFLIX premiered a new series, “Orange is the New Black.” Featuring a female P. R. executive who gets incarcerated at a minimum-security prison as a result of a prior (decade earlier) encounter with a drug runner, it was well received and ran for 6 seasons.
The title implies a color that has become fashionable, supplanting black. Prison apparel is orange.
Now we’ve segued again.
There was a time, when I was a boy, orange was my favorite color. I cannot recall why. It just was. And remained so for some time.
I later learned a few colors have no rhyme in English. ‘Orange’ is perhaps the most famous.
Other colors that have no rhyme include ‘silver’ and ‘purple.’
I have learned that silver is an excellent color for a car exterior. One of the best. I have had quite a few cars in my lifetime and the one color which shows dirt less than practically any other is silver.
Silver also reflects sunlight, so in the heat of summer the vehicle tends to get less hot than it might were it a darker color, such as black.
More about purple in a bit.
Now that I am an adult, I cannot say orange remains a favorite color. It has been this way for some time, and certainly since 2016.
