Open Letter to Joe Biden

January 20 approaches. For many, it cannot come too soon.

After what we witnessed in the Capitol on January 6, it is apparent that your predecessor cares not a whit for our country (as if we needed a further reminder). Rather, being the unbridled narcissist that he is, detached from reality, his attack on our democracy was unprecedented and nearly successful.

He still has almost 2 weeks left in office. What further mischief he can cause is unknown. Let us hope, in the absence of impeachment or invocation of Amendment 25, both of which Robert Reich, former Labor Secretary, has opined there is not time for, he has caused as much damage as he is likely going to.

It will be up to the history books where to assign his Presidency. It may be closer to the ash heap than to Mt. Rushmore, where, in his delusions of grandeur, he thought his bust belonged.

With luck he will become a cipher, an anomaly, a huge mistake the country may not make again. But there is no guarantee of that.
