Not Necessarily a Bad Thing

I understand why, in 2016, Donald Trump won. A dark horse initially far from the head of the pack, he overcame great odds to became POTUS.

It does no good to Monday morning quarterback as to the possible reasons Hillary Clinton lost. Despite winning the popular vote by almost 3M, she lost the Electoral College vote.

Like other good soldiers before her (Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Al Gore, to name a few), she conceded with grace, putting her country before ego.

A friend of mine, whom I’ve known most of my life, opined the reason she voted for Trump in 2016 was she believed that, despite his lack of experience in politics, he would surround himself with competent people and succeed in draining the so-called ‘swamp.’

As we have seen, the swamp was not drained. There are more alligators than ever before. You cannot traverse the moat without stepping on them.

The current POTUS has not conceded. He may never.

This despite Joe Biden’s winning over 5M more popular votes. Should the Electoral…
