During life, we may have several houses.
Some people have one to live in; others many.
Some invest in real estate and never live in the property they own.
Some largely live off their rental income.
I’ve been both a landlord and a renter.
I’ve been disadvantaged both ways.
I conclude some people shouldn’t own houses.
Now I’m a homeowner I realize how nice it was to be a renter.
Then, when something went wrong, I contacted the landlord.
Now there’s nobody else to call.
It’s all on me.
We may have many several cars.
Rarely one.
Some own many during their lifetimes.
My ex-landlord had an interesting philosophy.
Between him and his wife, at one time they had 3 cars.
Not that unusual.
What was unusual is that the combined mileage on the 3 cars exceeded 1 million miles.
He would wait to buy a used vehicle until it had a couple hundred thousand miles on it, then put a couple hundred thousand miles of his own on it.
