Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives in U. S. Congress, has opined the Democratic candidate for POTUS, Joe Biden, should not debate the current POTUS, Donald Trump, before Election Day.

Here is one of the latest posts on the topic:

There are 3 debates scheduled between September 29 and October 22. I don’t think they are set in stone, however.

The most cogent question is this: what is the purpose of debates?

If debates make no difference, why have them? Particularly in this time of pandemic, with attendant advisability of masks and social distancing?

So, do debates make a difference?

The jury seems to be out on that. They might (but then again, they might not).

I thought Hilary Clinton performed well during debates before the 2016 election and we all know how that turned out.

If they might be beneficial, who has the most to gain?

I maintain Joe Biden may have the most to lose.
