His 1st marriage, that to actress Frances Tomelty, was disintegrating.
Marital dissolutions tend to be distracting.
In general, more so than marital unions.
Why is it discords are often more distracting than accords?
Might there be a reason for that?
Might we look up on a cold dark night at the twinkling lights in the canopy, most that left their source years ago, and conclude the cosmos is trying to tell us something?
The cosmos usually whispers.
It rarely shouts.
It rarely tries to make itself heard above the din of other, often less important things that humans tend to surround ourselves with.
It seems to realize that effort may be futile.
It doesn’t want to hit us over the head with a 2 X 4.
Not usually.
A farmer had a mule for sale.
A potential customer came by to look.
“Ask him to do something,” said the farmer.
