It began simply enough.

A troubling dream.

Who hasn’t had one?

Ours may be bizarre and, upon awakening, defy belief.

But, during the dream, no matter how strange, images seem both real and credible.

And, while some may search for meaning, that may remain elusive.

There may be no meaning we can discern.

We may have had too much to eat the night before.

Or drink.

The dream may be a consequence of dyspepsia.

The dream may have been vivid and its memory may stay awhile, leaving us wondering.

More often, it vanishes like the night mist as the sun’s rays penetrate that mist and herald a new day.

I am going to relate a story from Holy Writ.

Believers will take it as fact.

Others may not.

Regardless, it might be a story of some interest.

It is recorded in the book of Daniel in the Old Testament.

A short book with more than its share of interesting stories.

The book was written by the prophet Daniel, a Jew, who writes in the third person.
