An Appreciation. Sort Of

Tomorrow will be a new day. No, really.

I cannot say when I relished contemplating that with such veracity.

And relief.

Regardless the threat of right-wing violence in state capitols and our nation’s capital.

Hopefully, this time authorities will be prepared for potential onslaught.

The light at the end of the tunnel may, this time, not be an oncoming locomotive.

As Richard Nixon, a predecessor, sullenly commented to the press corps, after he lost the 1962 CA governor’s race to Pat Brown, “You’re not going to have Richard Nixon to kick around anymore.”

But they did.

Nixon made a comeback. Got his revenge.

Six years later he became POTUS.

We can only hope it does not happen this time.

One thing about our current POTUS: he was almost never boring.

He made for good (if not great) copy.

I can think of no greater inspiration for caricature.

Political cartoonists, lampoonists, and commentators (regardless their disposition, whether right or left) took delight, were ecstatic at their good fortune. Rubbed hands with glee. Chortled all the way to the bank.
