Member-only story
Horror (and not a little terror) has come to the nation of Ukraine as of February 24, 2022, when the Russians invaded.
It has come to many places, none more than Mariupol, but one of the many cities Russia has invaded with the intention of subjugation.
The Azovstal steel plant is the last bastion of Ukrainian holdouts in the devastated city.

I am not telling my daughter of this account.
A soft-hearted animal lover, she might not be able to get through it.
She might not be able to read about the end of the family dog (a cocker spaniel) without weeping.
And there has been too much weeping.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine is but one cause.
It is on the front burner of the mind of many.
And that is as it should be.
For if we are not stirred by these events, what will stir us?
